Following the successful development of the robotic platform there was always a view that GRAID would be operated by the Pipeline Maintenance Centre or PMC for short. Spread across the country the team are perfectly set up to support GRAID in both operation on site and coordinating the connections that will allow the robot inside the Gas Transmission network. PMC have a considerable amount of expertise on the Transmission network and are perfectly suited to help Project GRAID become the success it can be.
Once the Ofgem NIC project completes in November 2018 GRAID will be officially handed over to PMC and they will be responsible for promoting and operating the robot. It is because of this that discussions are starting now to ensure a smooth transition and that everyone is aware of their roles in the project.
